About the Role

Next to increasing AIRLIFT One’s knowledge of battery cells, you will be working on specifying and designing the optimal cell for our eVTOL application and make sure that these cells deliver the performance as required.

Tasks may include:

  • Specification of cells w.r.t. to energy and power requirements, safety, and technological limits
  • Close cooperation with cell suppliers: coordination of cell design, production, supply chain and procurement.
  • Coordination of cell characterization and tests
  • Cell modelling on different fidelity levels.
  • Support of aircraft operation improvements regarding optimized operation and ageing of the battery, including charging strategies.
  • Support of development, implementation and validation of battery and energy management concepts.
  • Support of verification and validation according to CS-23, DO-160, DO-311
  • Support of development of aircraft series production, maintenance and operating processes
  • Work on ad hoc related tasks or projects provided by management


  • MSc, PhD or equivalent degree in in electrical engineering, physics, chemistry or a related field required
  • Senior level experience in Li-ion cell technology, materials, design, and production - for cylindrical cells in particular.
  • Established network with renowned cell manufacturers and researchers
  • Strong knowledge of cell modelling and simulation
  • Strong knowledge of function and use of electrical and cell measurement equipment
  • Strong motivation to help build structures and processes
  • High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomous
  • Target-oriented, driven workstyle with analytic problem-solving skills required
  • Fluent English language skills are essential.
